IN 2021, COUNCIL HAD DIRECTED THAT RECONCILIATION, VISIBILITY IN THE DOWNTOWN, TAXES, AND UNAUTHORIZED PARKING BE THE PRIORITIES WHERE MED FOCUS ITS ATTENTION.
THERE IS AN ATTACHMENT TO THE BACK OF THE MEMO TODAY THAT OUTLINES THE WORK THAT'S BEEN UNDERTAKEN IN 2021 IN THIS REGARD.
TODAY, ADMINISTRATION HAS PROPOSED SPEEDING AND ALSO SO WE CAN PREPARE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE MONETARY PENALTY SYSTEM, AMPS SO THAT WILL DEAL WITH OUR TRAFFIC-RELATED TICKETING.

VERY INTERESTING THAT THEY FLAGGED THAT AND THAT'S CERTAINLY PART OF THE WORK THAT'S UNDERWAY WITHIN THE CITY CORPORATELY.
IN TERMS OF OUR ASSET MANAGEMENT PLANNING, WE ARE LOOKING AT DEFINING SERVICE LEVELS ACROSS THE CORPORATION.

AS TO YOUR QUESTION, YES, IT IS UNDER CONSIDERATION AND THOSE ARE THE QUESTIONS THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT WITH RESPECT TO SERVICE LEVELS AND DEVELOPING THOSE.

A COUPLE OF NIGHTS AGO, WE HAD ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE BREAK AND ENTERS ON OLD AIRPORT ROAD.
IT WAS FAIR TO SAY THAT THE PERSON INVOLVED IN THOSE BREAK AND ENTERS IS KNOWN TO THE DETACHMENT AS A PROLIFIC OFFENDER.
WHEN THOSE PEOPLE GO IN THERE, THEY RECEIVE COURT RELEASE CONDITIONS.
THOSE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAVE TO KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON TO MAKE SURE THEY COMPLY WITH THEIR CONDITIONS.
BECAUSE QUITE OFTEN, IF NO ONE'S WATCHING THEM OR THEY FEEL LIKE IT'S SAFE TO GO OUT AND BREACH THEIR CONDITIONS, THAT THEY QUITE OFTEN THEY'LL CREATE MORE CRIME.

ARE THERE PROLIFIC OFFENDERS WHO DRIVE WHILE IMPAIRED? YES, THERE ARE. I'VE SEEN IT SINCE I ARRIVED IN YELLOWKNIFE.
IT'S SHOCKING THE VOLUME OF IMPAIRED DRIVING OFFENSES HERE IN THIS CITY.

THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT RE-OFFEND WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING AND WE HAVE SOME POLICE OFFICERS WHO ARE VERY KEEN AND KNOW CERTAIN PEOPLE THAT THEY ARRESTED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING RECENTLY ARE NOW SUSPENDED FOR DRIVING AND THEY STILL DRIVE IMPAIRED.WITH THIS, THEY'RE VERY SEPARATE OBJECTIVES BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THEY ALIGN.
WE HAVE OUR PROLIFIC OFFENDERS FOR PROPERTY CRIME, DRUG TRAFFICKING, ETC.
BUT WE ALSO HAVE THE PEOPLE WHO MAY DRIVE VIRTUALLY WHILE IMPAIRED.
BUT THERE'S TWO SEPARATE OBJECTIVES.
