IT DATES BACK TO 2008 AND IT WAS UPDATED IN 2018 TO ENSURE PROGRESSIVE AND YELLOWKNIFE RELEVANT APPROACHES TO ENERGY. AT THIS POINT, THE CITY IS LOOKING TO UNDERTAKE A COMPREHENSIVE OVERHAUL, AND WE WANT TO BEGIN TO ENGAGE WITH STAKEHOLDERS AND THE PUBLIC ON WHAT THE NEW BYLAW LOOKS LIKE WHEN IT IS BROUGHT BEFORE COUNCIL FORMALLY. THE BUILDING BYLAW ESTABLISHES PREDICTABLE AND CONSISTENT MINIMUM STANDARDS THAT ARE [00:10:03] APPLIED TO THE QUALITY AND DURABILITY OF CONSTRUCTION ACROSS THE CITY. THE PURPOSE OF THE BYLAW IS TO PROTECT HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE OF THE BUILDING'S OCCUPANTS, AND, AS ALWAYS, THE BUILDING SERVICES TEAM IS COMMITTED TO HELPING DEVELOPERS, ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS AND CONTRACTORS NAVIGATE THE CITY'S CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS. THE ADOPTION OF THE NBC [INAUDIBLE] THE CITY IS [INAUDIBLE] HAVING JURISDICTION FOR THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, OCCUPATION OF ALL NEW BUILDINGS AND THEN THE ALTERATION, RECONSTRUCTION, DEMOLITION, REMODELING, RELOCATION AND CHANGE OF USE IN OCCUPANCY FOR ALL EXISTING BUILDINGS. ALSO, LOCAL ELEVATED STANDARDS WERE EMBEDDED THROUGHOUT THE BYLAW. THE DRAFT BYLAW HAS MAINTAIN THE OBJECTIVE BASED MODEL, THE ELEVATED STANDARDS HAVE BEEN UPDATED AND ARE NOW ORGANIZED IN EASY TO READ, PLAIN LANGUAGE FORMAT, ALL LOCATED IN ONE SECTION. THE DRAFT BYLAW CLEARLY SETS OUT THE MINIMUM STANDARDS BY ADOPTING THE 2015 NATIONAL BUILDING CODE, 2017 NATIONAL ENERGY CODE OF CANADA FOR BUILDINGS, [INAUDIBLE] TO IN SHORT FORM IS NECB, AND THEN VERSION 15 OF THE ENERGUIDE RATING SYSTEMS TECHNICAL PROCEDURES. AS NOTED, IT MAINTAINS THEIR ELEVATED STANDARDS TO MEET THE DEMANDS SPECIFIC TO OUR NORTHERN CLIMATE. AS MENTIONED, THE BYLAW HAS BEEN LAID OUT IN TWO DISTINCT SECTIONS, PART ONE IS ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS, THE NWT'S EQUIVALENT TO A BUILDING ACT, AND PART TWO THE CITY'S REQUIREMENTS TO VARY THE MINIMUM STANDARDS OF THE NBC. WE REMOVED DUPLICATION OF THE REGULATIONS THAT WERE ALREADY IN THE NBC TO ENSURE WE ARE NOT CREATING CONFUSION. ALSO WHEN THE 2020 NBC ROLLS OUT, THE BYLAW IS STRUCTURED TO ALLOW FOR ADOPTION. WE'VE ALSO EXPANDED THE SECTION THAT VARIES THE MINIMUM STANDARDS TO REDUCE CONSTRUCTION COSTS BY INCORPORATING NATIONAL CERTIFICATION FOR THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM DESIGNER AND PRESCRIPTIVE SCHEDULE FOR FOUNDATIONS HIGHLIGHTS OPTIONS THAT CAN DECREASE CONSTRUCTION COSTS TO PROMOTE AFFORDABILITY. THE CITYVIEW PROGRAM UPGRADE PROJECT CONTAINS SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE PORTAL. THIS IS A NEW END DATE. WE BELIEVE NOW THAT REMEDIATION WILL PROBABLY GO TO 2035. WE'RE STILL REFINING OUR SCHEDULE, SO IT'S STILL IN DRAFT. WE SAID WE WOULD BE DONE BY THE END OF MARCH, SO WE STILL HAVE 30 DAYS LEFT TO FINALIZE THAT. SO WITH THE AQUATIC ADVISORY COMMITTEE, WE'VE GONE THROUGH A LOT OF DIFFERENT DESIGN PLANS AND DISCUSSIONS AROUND BAKER CREEK IN ITS ENTIRETY, AND WE JUST DON'T HAVE TIME TO SHOW THEM HERE TODAY, BUT WE THOUGHT THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE FOR YOU TO SEE IS THE MOUTH OF BAKER, WHERE IT COMES OUT AND MEETS YELLOWKNIFE BAY. SO YOU CAN SEE THE CREEK, IT COMES ALONG HERE, AND BASICALLY THIS IS CALLED THE BREAKWATER, SO IT KIND OF BREAKS THE WATER COMING OUT OF THE CREEK AND THEN IT MEETS UP WITH YELLOWKNIFE BAY HERE. SO THIS WHOLE AREA WILL BE SCRAPED AND CONTAMINATED SOIL WILL BE REMOVED AND SEDIMENTS, AND THEN IT WILL BE LINED AND CLEAN FILL WILL BE PUT IN AND NEW VEGETATION SO THAT WE'RE PROTECTING THE ANIMALS AND THE WILDLIFE IN THIS AREA. THEN--. SO SORRY, THAT'S SORT OF ON THIS NEW DESIGN, SO YOU CAN SEE THE NEW DESIGN PATH, IT WAS ACTUALLY THE DECISION WAS MADE WITH RIGHTS HOLDER AND STAKEHOLDER INPUT. AND THIS IS SO THAT IT DOESN'T PUT SO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE BREAKWATER, ESPECIALLY IF THERE'S A LARGE FLOOD. SO THAT'S BEEN MOVED BACK OFF THE BREAKWATER, BUT A COUPLE OF THINGS I WANT TO POINT OUT ON THIS NEW DESIGN IS THAT WE WANT TO MAINTAIN THIS WETLAND AREA BECAUSE IT'S A REALLY IMPORTANT AREA FOR BIRDS AND FISH. WE HAVE THE GRAYLING SPAWNING THAT HAPPENS UP BAKER CREEK, BUT ALSO WE HAVE A LOT OF PIKE SPAWNING THAT HAPPENS IN THIS AREA. SO WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE MAINTAIN THAT AND THESE IMPORTANT WETLAND AREAS. THE OTHER THING I WANT TO POINT OUT ON THIS MAP IS THE NEW BRIDGE. RIGHT NOW IN THIS MAP, YOU CAN SEE IT'S KIND OF A CULVERT AND BAKER CREEK RUNS THROUGH HERE. BUT NOW WE'LL BE BUILDING A BRIDGE HERE DOWN-- WHOOP. DOWN TO THE PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH. THAT WAS A PERFECT TIME TO CLICK THAT. SO YOU CAN SEE HERE THAT THE PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH. THIS IS AN AREA THAT WILL ALSO BE EXCAVATED AND REBUILT BACK TO WHAT IT IS NOW AND, I GUESS IMPORTANT TO NOTE HERE, THIS IS ALL THE NEW GRAVEL OF WHAT WE THINK IT WILL LOOK LIKE. IT'S NOT AS PROMINENT IN THIS AREA BECAUSE WE WILL BE EXCAVATING HERE AND TAKING THE CONTAMINATED SEDIMENTS OUT BECAUSE WE CAN'T JUST PUT FILL ON TOP OF THEM OR ELSE AROUND THE BOAT LAUNCH, IT'LL BE TOO SHALLOW AND PEOPLE WON'T BE ABLE TO LAUNCH THEIR LARGER BOATS. BUT THIS WHOLE AREA AROUND THE SAILING CLUB WILL BE EXCAVATED, THE CONTAMINATED SOILS WILL [00:30:02] BE EXCAVATED. WHOOP. SORRY ABOUT THAT. NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED THERE. IT WON'T COVER ALL OF THE CONTAMINATED SEDIMENTS IN THE BAY, BUT IT'S MEANT TO PROTECT THE SHORELINE IN PARTICULAR SO THAT THE WAVES CAN'T HIT THE SHORELINE AND REDISTRIBUTE THOSE CONTAMINATED SEDIMENTS. SO WITH THAT, I WILL--. I GUESS I WILL SAY THAT WE WILL COMMUNICATE THESE DETAILS IN A MORE PUBLIC FORUM STARTING WITH TOMORROW NIGHT, AS NATALIE MENTIONED, WE HAVE THESE--. THEN YOU CAN SEE JUST SOME OF THE WORK HAPPENING THERE. THE NEXT SLIDE, THE REMEDIATION ACTIVITY NUMBER TWO THAT WE DID THIS YEAR WAS THE NON HAZARDOUS WASTE LANDFILL. SO THIS WAS THE AREA BEFOREHAND. YOU CAN SEE A LOT OF DEBRIS HAD TO BE CLEARED, THE AREA PREPPED AND THEN THE LANDFILL SPACE WAS PREPPED. SO IF YOU CAN SEE THE PHOTO IN THE TOP RIGHT, I'M NOT SURE IF YOU CAN SEE IT. I'M SORRY, IT'S SMALL. THAT'S WHAT IT [INAUDIBLE] LOOK LIKE AFTER EVERYTHING WAS CLEARED. THE CONTRACTOR HIRED TO DO THIS WORK WAS CALLED FORWARD MINING, ANOTHER INDIGENOUS CONTRACTOR, BEGAN THE WORK IN JULY OF 2021 AND THEN THEY STOPPED IN NOVEMBER FOR THE WINTER. THEY DIDN'T QUITE FINISH, SO THEY HAVE TWO OR THREE MORE WORK WEEKS TO DO THAT THEY'LL BE DOING THIS MAY AND THEN WE WILL BEGIN USING THIS LANDFILL FOR CLEANING UP SITE DEBRIS. SO AS I SAID, IT'S NOT HAZARDOUS. SO IT'S ONLY JUST, YOU KNOW, INERT NON HAZARDOUS MATERIALS WILL BE PLACED IN THERE AND WE HAVE SUFFICIENT VOLUME FOR--. IT'S MOSTLY ALL THE BUILDINGS ON SITE, THE SITE BUILDINGS, THE MILL. ANYTHING THAT IS NON HAZARDOUS WILL BE PLACED IN THERE OVER THE LIFE OF THE PROJECT. NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE. SO THOSE WERE THE TWO MAIN ACTIVITIES THAT WERE COMPLETED THIS YEAR, SO I'LL JUST GO OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS ON WHAT OUR PLANNED ACTIVITIES GOING FORWARD ARE. SO THIS SUMMER, STARTING IN MAY, SO VERY SOON, IS THE TOWN SITE DECONSTRUCTION. ALL THE BUILDINGS WILL BE FIRST AN ASBESTOS ABATEMENT CONTRACTOR AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS CONTRACTOR WILL COME IN AND REMOVE ALL THE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, AND THEN THE BUILDINGS WILL BE DECONSTRUCTED AND PLACED IN THAT LANDFILL I JUST SHOWED YOU. SO THIS IS PRETTY MUCH THE BIGGEST PIECE OF WORK FOR THIS YEAR, FOR 2022 AND THEN RAMPING UP FOR 23. NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE. SO THE SCHEDULE FOR GIANT IS VERY COMPLICATED AND, YOU KNOW, TAKES UP MULTIPLE PAGES AND A GANTT CHART, SO THIS IS OUR SUMMARY OF THINGS WE THOUGHT WOULD BE OF INTEREST TO THIS GROUP OF WHAT'S GOING TO BE HAPPENING IN THE NEXT TWO YEARS, 23-24. THE FIRST ONE IS, I WANT TO MENTION IS THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT THAT IS SORT OF OUR CRITICAL PATH, MOST IMPORTANT ITEM WE WANT TO GET STARTED IS WE WANT TO GET THE NEW WATER TREATMENT PLANT STARTED SO WE CAN START TREATING WATER TO THE DRINKING WATER CRITERIA FOR ARSENIC. THAT'S NUMBER ONE, AND IT'S SORT OF EVERYTHING ELSE HAS TO HAPPEN--. THIS HAS TO HAPPEN FIRST FOR ALL THE OTHER ITEMS TO HAPPEN. SO WITH THAT, WE HAVE SOME OUTFALL PIPE THAT NEEDS TO BE CONSTRUCTED AS WELL AS AN INTAKE PIPE. WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE THE UNDERGROUND STABILIZATION, COLLECTING A LOT OF THE DEBRIS AND RECYCLING, AND THEN THE OTHER ITEM, I THINK THAT IS OF INTEREST TO MOST PEOPLE IN YELLOWKNIFE IS THE CONTAMINATED SOIL REMEDIATION. THE TOWN SITE AREA IS GOING IS SLATED TO START IN EARLY 2024. SO AS JESS POINTED OUT, WE'RE GOING TO START WITH THE GREAT SLAVE SAILING CLUB FIRST SO WE CAN GET THAT AREA REMEDIATED AND GET THE NEW BOAT LAUNCH BUILT, SO THEN WE CAN WORK ON THE OTHER SIDE AND BAKER CREEK BECAUSE IT'S QUITE COMPLICATED IN THAT AREA. SO THAT IS PLANNED FOR 2024 AND WE WILL DO SOME OUTREACH AS WELL STARTING TOMORROW NIGHT WITH THE PUBLIC FORUM LETTING PEOPLE KNOW [INAUDIBLE] WELL PERHAPS HAVING [INAUDIBLE] OPEN HOUSES, COMMUNICATING WITH THE SAILING CLUB, MINE HERITAGE BOATERS TO LET THEM KNOW THAT THAT IS THE PLAN FOR 2024. AND THEN AS WELL IN 2024, WE WILL BE DOING SOME QUARRYING ON SITE CALLED THE NORTH POND THAT WILL NEED TO PRODUCE SOME MATERIALS FOR ON SITE WORK. I THINK THAT'S GOOD. OK, SO AGAIN, THIS SHOWS AGAIN WHAT WE THINK THE AREAS--. THIS IS OUR ARTISTS THINK BASED ON OUR DESIGNS. SO WHEN WE DO THE GREAT SLAVE SAILING CLUB AREA, THAT AREA WILL BE OUT OF COMMISSION, BUT WE WILL MAKE SURE THE PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCH THAT IS CURRENTLY THERE WILL REMAIN OPEN AND ACCESSIBLE TO YELLOWKNIFERS, AND THEN ONCE WE'RE DONE THE SAILING CLUB AREA, WE'LL MAKE SURE THAT THE AREA IS BACKFILLED, LEVELED. WE WILL WORK WITH THE GNWT AND IF THE CITY, SHOULD THEY WANT TO--. HOW HOW THE GRADING PLAN WILL LOOK AS WELL WE'VE DONE SOME ENGAGEMENT ALREADY ON THE BOAT LAUNCH. AND THEN THAT AREA WILL BECOME THE MAIN BOAT LAUNCH FOR YELLOWKNIFE WHILE WE DO THE WORK ON THE OTHER SIDE OF BAKER CREEK AND THE TOWN SITE. RIGHT NOW, THE SCHEDULE FOR THE WORK ON THE OTHER SIDE MEANS WE'RE GOING TO BE IN AND OUT OF THAT AREA OVER THE COURSE OF THE REMEDIATION, SO WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO WORK ON HOW THE PUBLIC BOAT LAUNCHED MAY OR MAY NOT BE OPEN AT CERTAIN TIMES BASED ON IF WE'RE DOING WORK IN THE BAKER CREEK AREA. WE DON'T WANT THE PUBLIC GOING IN THAT AREA, SO THE SAILING CLUB WILL BE THE MAIN BOAT LAUNCH. SO THERE'S STILL MORE TO COME ON THAT AND THE EXACT TIMINGS, BUT WE DO KNOW THAT THE SAILING CLUB WILL BE REMEDIATED IN 2024. AND WITH THAT, I WILL PASS IT OVER TO JESS TO TALK ON SOME DUST MANAGEMENT, WHICH IS A VERY CRITICAL ITEM FOR MANY YELLOWKNIFERS AND YELLOWKNIFE DENE. SO, I GUESS, FOR DUST MANAGEMENT, WE KNOW THAT THIS IS A BIG ISSUE FOR RESIDENTS AND WE'VE HEARD FROM THE YELLOWKNIFE DENE A LOT OVER THE YEARS ABOUT DUST MANAGEMENT AND THE WORRIES AROUND DUST. SO. AND THEN, OF COURSE, FROM THE CITY ALSO. SO I JUST THOUGHT I'D TAKE A MOMENT TO GIVE YOU SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE DO FOR DUST [00:40:02] MANAGEMENT ON SITE. THERE'S ALSO, IN THE MORNING, THEY ALWAYS CHECK, EVEN DAYS BEFORE, THEY CHECK THE WIND SPEED THAT'S GOING TO BE COMING UP FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS, AND IN THE MORNING, WHEN THEY HAVE TAILGATE MEETINGS, WE HAVE A BUNCH OF SUBCONTRACTORS ON SITE, AS YOU HEARD NATALIE SPEAK. THIS YEAR WE HAD FORWARD MINING AND DJRM ON SITE. SO THESE GROUPS HAVE TAILGATE MEETINGS AND THEY DISCUSS THE WIND SPEED, AND IF SOME OF THE WORK THAT THEY'RE DOING IS GOING TO PRODUCE DUST, THEN THEY WANT TO THINK ABOUT HOW THEY CAN MINIMIZE THAT. AND THEN IF IT'S REALLY A WINDY DAY, WE ACTUALLY WILL STOP WORK IN THOSE AREAS SO THAT THE DUST IS NOT BEING REDISTRIBUTED. AND THEN HERE IN THIS PHOTO, YOU CAN SEE WATER CANNONS. SO WE PURCHASED FOUR OF THESE JUST ABOUT A YEAR AGO NOW, AND THAT WAS PARTLY BECAUSE WE PUT SOIL TACK ON THE TAILINGS PONDS AND WE WET THE TAILINGS PONDS, BUT WE HAVE TO USE TRUCKS TO DO THAT. AND THEN THERE ARE CERTAIN TIMES A YEAR WHEN THOSE TRUCKS CAN'T GET ON, AND ONE OF THOSE TIMES A YEAR IS MAY, WHEN IT'S LIKE ONE OF THE WINDIEST MONTHS IN YELLOWKNIFE. AND SO WE, YOU KNOW, WE HAD CHALLENGES WITH THAT, SO THESE WATER CANNONS ACTUALLY ALLOW WATER AND SOIL CAN BE SPRAYED OUT OF THESE WATER CANNONS TO GO OVER THE TAILINGS PONDS WHEN WE CAN'T GET THE TRUCKS OUT THERE. SO WE DO HAVE A DUST MANAGEMENT PLAN THAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING ON WITH STAKEHOLDERS AND RIGHTS HOLDERS, AND THAT HELPS US MANAGE AND MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE FOR MANAGING DUST. JUST A REMINDER OF OUR HEALTH EFFECTS MONITORING PROGRAM THAT STARTED IN 2017 AND THAT WAS LED BY DR. LAURIE CHAN AND HIS UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA TEAM. THIS STUDY MEASURED ARSENIC CONCENTRATIONS IN URINE AND TOENAILS AND SALIVA, AND IT WAS COLLECTED FROM APPROXIMATELY 2000 RESIDENTS IN YELLOWKNIFE, NDILO AND DETTAH RANGING FROM AGES OF THREE TO SEVENTY NINE TO BE EXACT. AND ALL THE RESULTS HAVE BEEN PROVIDED TO PARTICIPANTS, AND IN 2019 WE DID HAVE COMMUNITY MEETINGS PRESENTING ON A POPULATION LEVEL. NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE. SO WHAT THEY'RE DOING THIS YEAR IS THEY'RE DOING SOME MORE LAB ANALYSIS WORK, THEY ARE SPENDING SOME TIME ON WORKING ON SOME ARSENIC COMMUNICATION, SOME EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS BECAUSE THERE'S NO SAMPLING HAPPENING RIGHT NOW THIS YEAR. THE TEAM PLANS TO COME BACK NEXT SPRING IN '23 AND RESAMPLE CHILDREN PARTICIPANTS. SO THE INTENT IS TO GO BACK TO THOSE WHO DID PARTICIPATE, BUT ALSO THE TEAM'S OPEN TO OTHERS AND THEN TO COME BACK AND DO ADULTS AND CHILDREN IN 27-28. WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE LEGACY OF GIANT HAS HAD MANY IMPACT, BOTH ON THE ENVIRONMENT AND TO PEOPLE LIVING IN THE AREA, WE HAVE HEARD MANY STORIES FROM PEOPLE DESCRIBING THEIR WORRIES AND THEIR STRESS FROM GIANT, BOTH WHEN IT WAS OPERATING, NOW IN ITS CURRENT STATE, AND WHAT THE FUTURE ENTAILS. RIGHTS AND STAKEHOLDERS, IN ADDITION TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW BOARD, TOLD US THAT WE NEED TO REALLY TRY TO UNDERSTAND WHAT LEVEL OF STRESS IS ACTUALLY ATTRIBUTED TO [INAUDIBLE] GIANT. SO AS A RESULT, THE PROJECT TEAM IS FUNDING A STUDY LED BY DR. KETAN SHANKARDASS FROM WILFRID LAURIER IN WATERLOO, ONTARIO, AND HIS STUDY TEAM IS WORKING IN CLOSE COLLABORATION WITH THE YELLOWKNIFE DENE WELLNESS DEPARTMENT, AND ONE WAY OF REFLECTING THAT PARTNERSHIP IS THE NAME OF THE STUDY, WHICH IS HOÈLA WETEÈST’EÈDEÈ, WHICH ESSENTIALLY TRANSLATES TO UNDERSTANDING COMMUNITY WELL-BEING IN WIÌLIÌDEH. THE CITY ALSO MEETS WITH TECHNICAL COMMITTEE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS AND AN ADVISORY COMMITTEE WITH RIGHTS OF STAKEHOLDERS TO PROVIDE THAT COMMUNITY PERSPECTIVES. SO QUICKLY, WHAT DOES THIS STUDY ENTAIL? ESSENTIALLY, IT'S A SURVEY FOR PARTICIPANTS TO ASK A NUMBER OF QUESTIONS ABOUT THEIR POTENTIAL SOURCES OF STRESS WITHIN THEIR LIFE, AND THEN ALSO TO UNDERSTAND PEOPLE'S EXPERIENCE WITH THE HISTORY AND LEGACY OF GIANT. ADULT PARTICIPANTS WILL ALSO BE HELPING US MEASURE THEIR ALLOSTATIC LOAD, THIS IS DONE BY [00:45:04] BLOOD SAMPLING, AND WHAT THIS MEANS IS ESSENTIALLY A MEDICAL WAY OF UNDERSTANDING THE WEAR AND TEAR OF STRESS ON OUR BODIES. AND SO REALLY, HOW DO WE USE THAT INFORMATION FROM THIS WORK? IT IS TO INFORM THE GIANT MINE TEAM TO MAKE MANAGEMENT RESPONSES OR COMMUNICATION CHANGES. SO BOTH OF THESE COMMITTEES CONSIST OF MEMBERS FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, THE GNWT, STAFF FROM YELLOWKNIFE'S DENE FIRST NATION, NORTH SLAVE MÉTIS ALLIANCE, [INAUDIBLE] GOVERNMENT, AS WELL AS THE CITY STAFF. ON THE SOCIOECONOMIC WORKING GROUP MEETS EVERY OTHER MONTH, AND THE SOCIOECONOMIC ADVISORY BODY MEETS ON A QUARTERLY BASIS AND SINCE THE 2020 MEETINGS HAVE BEEN HELD VIRTUALLY. NEXT SLIDE PLEASE. THE PROJECT SOCIOECONOMIC ACTIVITIES ARE GUIDED BY A SOCIOECONOMIC STRATEGY AND TO DEMONSTRATE WHICH ACTIVITIES ARE BEING UNDERTAKEN TO MAXIMIZE THE BENEFITS. IN 2020, THE PROJECT HAD DEVELOPED A COMPREHENSIVE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN THAT IDENTIFIES SOCIOECONOMIC ACTIVITIES CURRENTLY BEING UNDERTAKEN, AS WELL AS THOSE PLANNED FOR THE FUTURE. ORGANIZED IN FOUR CATEGORIES YOU SEE HERE IN FRONT OF YOU, THEY ARE TRAINING, EMPLOYMENT, PROCUREMENT AND OTHER SUPPORTING ACTIONS. AND I'D LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THE KEY ACTIVITIES THAT HAVE BEEN COMPLETED SINCE THE PROJECT LAST PRESENTED TO THE CITY'S COUNCILORS LAST YEAR. SO IN TERMS OF TRAINING, WE ARE NOW ABLE TO PROVIDE LONG TERM FUNDING FOR TRAINING TO OUR RIGHTS HOLDERS AND STAKEHOLDERS. WE'VE INITIATED THIS WITH SECURED TRAINING FUND OF SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND PER YEAR, WHICH IS INCLUDED IN THE COMMUNITY BENEFITS AGREEMENT WITH THE YELLOWKNIVES DNEE FIRST NATION THAT THE PROJECT TEAM HAS SIGNED, WHICH I WILL BE TOUCHING ON LATER IN MY PRESENTATION. WE'VE ALSO COMMITTED APPROXIMATELY THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND PER YEAR TO TEACH ON GOVERNMENT, AND WE'RE STILL WORKING WITH THE NORTH SLAVE MÉTIS ALLIANCE ON WHAT TRAINING WOULD LOOK LIKE TO OFFER. WE ARE COMMITTED TO FUNDING THEM AS WELL IN TERMS OF PROCUREMENT, FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS A STANDARD CAP OF TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR SOLE SOURCE CONTRACTING. AND I AM HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT FOR THE FULL FOR THE GIANT [INAUDIBLE] PROJECT AND FOR PERSONS USE, THIS HAS BEEN INCREASED TO ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND AND IT WILL. ALSO, PARSONS HELD INDUSTRY DAY FROM JANUARY 18TH UNTIL THE 20TH OF THIS YEAR, SHOWCASING UPCOMING WORK FOR 2022 AND 2023 TO LOCAL AREA BUSINESS COMMUNITY. AND THIS IS A COMBINATION OF PARSONS ON SITE CONTRACTS, AS WELL AS THOSE THAT ARE MANAGED BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR OFFSITE DESIGN AND SUPPORT WORK, SUCH AS ENGINEERING AND CONSULTING. PROJECTS ANNUAL REPORT TO THE GIANT MINE OVERSIGHT BOARD FISCAL YEAR 2020 21 HAS BEEN SUBMITTED, AND IT'S THE FIRST TIME THE PROJECT TEAM IS REPORTING AGAINST SOCIOECONOMIC ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE TARGETS FOR EMPLOYMENT, TRAINING AND RECRUITMENT, AND THIS IS TO HIGHLIGHT THE BEGINNING OF THE REMEDIATION.
