SINCE 2019, THE CITY IS ACTIVELY ADVOCATED FOR THE TRANSFER OF VACANT, [Items 11 - 13] UNENCUMBERED LANDS FROM THE COMMISSIONERS LANDS INVENTORY. WE'VE BEEN VERY PLEASED TO SEE THIS INCLUDED AS PART OF THE CURRENT LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLIES MANDATE WITHIN THEIR TERM OF OFFICE. THE CITY HAS WORKED WITH THE G AND WTS DEPARTMENT OF LANDS TO CONFIRM A PROCESS GOING FORWARD FOR THIS TRANSFER. THIS PROCESS DIFFERS SIGNIFICANTLY FROM WHAT HAS BEEN THE PAST PRACTICE WHERE CITY ADMINISTRATION WOULD PROPOSE THE TRANSFER OF INDIVIDUAL PARCELS, SEEK COUNCIL APPROVAL TO PROCEED, THEN GO TO THE G&WT LAND STAFF WHO WOULD REQUIRE A RATIONALE FROM CITY WHICH IF THE G&WT STAFF DEEM THAT TO BE ADEQUATE, THEY WOULD THEN APPROVE IT.
