Councillor Payne moves, Councillor ___________ seconds, That Council direct Administration to develop an application that will maximize the likelihood of success through analysis of the scoring grid under the National Housing Strategy Rapid Housing Initiative for the purpose of developing a permanent supportive housing unit.
5. Special Governance and Priorities Committee Report for November 30, 2020. 6. Councillor Payne moves, Councillor ____________ seconds, That: 1. Council table the following recommendation to: 1. Approve the recommendation from the City of Yellowknife Community Advisory Board on Homelessness to allocate $300,000 of the Reaching Home - Canada’s Strategy to End Homelessness COVID-19 funding to rental/utility arrears and temporary rent supports; 2. Direct Administration to carryout an upward adjustment to the Preventative and Rapid Rehousing contract with the YWCA in the amount of $300,000 for the purpose of providing rental arrears and rent supports to individuals and families experiencing or at imminent risk of homelessness; and 3. Approve the recommendation from the City of Yellowknife Community Advisory Board on Homelessness to allocate up to $812,100 of the Reaching Home - Canada’s Strategy to End Homelessness COVID-19 funding to provide 20 shelter beds for individuals and 10 shelter rooms for families. 2. The Community Advisory Board on Homelessness bring forward a recommendation that helps people experiencing homelessness to move into permanent supportive housing options. 3. The Mayor write to the appropriate Federal Ministers to request: a. An extension to the City of Yellowknife’s Reaching Home funding beyond the March 31, 2021 deadline or allow for funds to be committed before this deadline but allow them to be spent after. b. That the Federal government review their residential assets in Yellowknife and determine if any could be made available for use as affordable housing. ADJOURNMENT
